This was a true period of transition for me in how I approached painting as I was inspired to work directly from life during the pregnancy of my wife. With trips to Bangkok with the new family I was able to work from the 26th floor balcony of my father-in-law's apartment, which afforded remarkable views across the city. As a city in transition, no view ever remains the same. Buildings appear at an alarmingly rapid pace, in spaces you wouldn't think could accommodate them. Cityscapes of Bangkok, and in fact other cities in Thailand, feel like records for posterity.
